Hey you guys! Happy Tuesday! 🙂 I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start. I’m feeling super productive over here. My birthday is next week (any other Labor Day babies out there?) and Charlie has plans for us everyday starting on Friday all the way to Monday so I’m trying to make sure I’m 100% caught up and ready to go so I can enjoy the fun stuff my super sweet hubby has in the works for the weekend! This is super corny, but spending time with him with no work or distractions is the best birthday present he could give me. 🙂 I feel like you know you’re getting old when you feel that way, haha. My mom asked me for a birthday list this year and I was like “ehhhh I have no clue!” Of course I managed to come up with some things to put on there though. 😛

I loooove love love this summer to fall transition outfit! It’s the perfect look with the perfect pieces for those awkward in between late summer days. I wanted to share the thought process of how I put together this transitional outfit and realized that it’s applicable to putting together any summer to fall look so I decided to share 6 tips for nailing summer to fall style.
Tip 1: Short Sleeve Sweaters
One great way to not have to go straight from summer style to fall style and enjoy your wardrobe in between is to trade in your camis and tanks for short sleeve sweaters. Short sleeve sweaters can be worn with an-y-thing. I’m talkin’ from skirts of any length (like I did here), shorts, jeans, or dress pants. Short sleeve sweaters are super versatile in terms of dressing them up or down as well as in terms of what the forecast is looking like.
Tip 2: Sweaters with Shorts or Mini Skirts
You can also pair a regular sweater with shorts or a mini skirt. This is a great way to get an early taste of fall but not look like you’re dressed totally out of season. I wouldn’t recommend wearing a sweater with jeans and booties in late August, but with cut offs and a cute pair of sandals, you’re looking perfectly styled for the in between season.
Tip 3: Peep Toe Booties
Peep toe booties are, hands down, one of the easiest ways to get great summer to fall style. They still show off your summer pedicure and (hopefully) keeping your feet from getting way too hot, but they’re still… well, booties. And I think we all know that booties are in the holy grail of fall shoes. The peep toe booties that I’m wearing are really great for the beginning of the transitional period because they have cut outs on the sides which open the shoe up that much more.
Tip 4: Bags
Bags are another easy way to transition from summer to fall. Swapping out a straw bag for a leather bag can be an instant transformation for your outfit’s season.
Tip 5: Colors
The colors you wear are a great first step to beginning the summer to fall transition because you can still wear tanks and shorts… just in more fall appropriate colors. 🙂 Wearing earth tone colors is a great way to get a taste of fall in the late summer. My rust toned sweater and olive skirt are a great example of still having bare arms and legs in August but still looking like I’m ready for fall.
Tip 6: Layers
I feel like this might be an obvious one, but layers are another super easy way to nail your summer to fall style. If you’re not quite ready to pack your cut offs away for the year, wear them with a cardigan layered over a tank top. Or for a trendier layer, you can wear a utility vest over a midi dress.
So there ya have it! 6 simple and easy tips for nailing summer to fall style! It can be challenging to be dressed for those in between days so hopefully these tips will help you pop a little fall into your summer wardrobe before jumping straight to scarves and boots. 🙂 I feel like all this talk about summer to fall style and transitional outfits basically warrants there to be a fifth season for the sake of fashion, hahah.
