As you probably know by now, Charlie and I just spent two weeks at the beach with our families. We hadn’t been home since February, so it was so nice to have some long awaited family time, at the beach no less! I wish we could have seen more of our families and of course we wish we had more time with them, but we’re so thankful for the time we did get.
The first week, we went to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina with my side of the family. My family loves to be on the go and doing things, so we had several outings during the week. It rained 5 out of 7 days, so it was nice to have options to get 8 people out of a 3 bedroom condo for a while. 😉 We also played board and card games every night! I always loved game night with my family, so it was great to have a week straight of it. I even won Monopoly one night. 😛 (I never win games, you guys, haha).
The second half of our vacation was spent at Atlantic Beach in North Carolina with Charlie’s side of the family. Atlantic Beach is much more quiet than Myrtle, so it was a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the first week. It was nice to get outside and soak up some sun and indulge in a good book! It was just Charlie, his mom and me for the first half of the week, and later in the week his sister, brother-in-law, twin niece and nephew, and dad came down, so we were back to another full house! Nothing better than family all in one place! We hadn’t seen his niece and nephew in over a year. They didn’t remember us but they warmed back up in no time and we had a blast watching them run around and play!
The only bummer was that Charlie didn’t really get to come out to the beach with us very much! The first week, it rained for the first 5 days. So by the time we got a day out on the beach, the week was basically over. BUT the issue was that Charlie and I both got nasty sun burns that day. Mine went away much quicker than his did and his was like a gazillion time worse than mine, so he wasn’t able to go outside again until the end of the second week-and he still had to wear a t-shirt! You guys, it’s been TWO weeks and he is STILL burnt in some places! It’s nuts! Poor hubs. 🙁
Despite sunburn and tons of time in the car, it was great to be with our families-no matter how crowded the couches were! We’re happy to be home with our pup, sleeping in our bed, and slipping back into routine, but the family time went by way too quickly and we’re already looking forward to the next visit, wherever it may be. Do you guys have any family vacation planned for the summer? Or have you already been on any?
This may not have been the most exciting post of all time, but I hope you guys enjoyed my beach diaries at least a little bit. 🙂 Happy Thursday and enjoy the upcoming weekend!
