Hey gang! I hope you’ve all had a fabulous weekend so far! I’m gonna keep it real with you today. Normally, I give you a quick snippet of what I’ve been up to since my last blog post, but I’m writing this on Friday and actually have no idea what our weekend has in store. So I hope that we had a great weekend too! Hahah! We were supposed to have a few friends over but some things came up so we decided to postpone. There was talk of taking a day trip to the shore on Saturday in lieu of our gathering, so maybe we did that. Who knows – I’ll letcha know on Thursday’s blog post, even though whatever we did this weekend technically already happened. 😛 This is like some super weird flashback and foreshadowing happening all at the same time. Should I write a mystery novel? Probably.
Oh, one more thing before we get started over here. THIS IS MY 200TH BLOG POST! WHAT THE HECK?! How is that possible?! Ugh, I love you guys and I’m so thankful that you read these crazy little things!
GREY T-SHIRT, similar here, here, here, and here | SHORTS, similar here (own these in khaki and love them!) | SHOES (updated version from last year’s which is what I have) | BAG (only $20!) | EARRINGS, similar here | SUNGLASSES | WATCH, similar here
Today I want to talk about some ways you can go about dressing up a t-shirt! I thought this fun grey t-shirt was perfect for the topic because it’s like the mullet of t-shirts… only in a really good way. It’s actual business in the front (at least as business as you can be with a t-shirt I guess) and party in the back! Hehe. I found this t-shirt on major clearance a while back at Gap (I think it was like $7?! I never shop full price!) so unfortunately it doesn’t exist anymore, but I did find some other fun grey t-shirts that I linked above for you guys!
Anyways, I thought this was a good t-shirt for this post because it has some added oomph to it! Which brings me to my first pointer on dressing up a t-shirt: find a t-shirt that has some dynamic to it. Like a fun tiered back like the one I’m wearing, a ruffle sleeve, a twisted front, you name it! Don’t just go for your everyday cotton v-neck. Although, don’t misunderstand, I also love a good classic tee!
Once you’ve got a t-shirt with a little extra character to it, add a fun bottom – this could be something dressy, flirty, you name it. I decided to go with a pair of black pleated shorts for my outfit because they were fun but didn’t take away from the t-shirt. I decided the shorts were a bit dressy, so I played on that and added a nice quilted bag and some sassy strappy heels to keep things dressed up. But the outfit was feeling like I just paired a t-shirt with some nicer pieces, so I tied everything together by adding a good statement earring, some fun sunglasses, and doing something a little extra to my hair! And, yes, I consider bobby-pinning one side of my hair back extra… hair and makeup aren’t my strong suits, okay? Hahah.
Do you guys like to take super casual things like a t-shirt and have a little fun with them? That’s always my favorite – wearing something in an unexpected way! Thanks for poppin’ in and I’ll see ya back here Thursday! Although… don’t forget tomorrow is the first Monday of August so I’ll be stopping in then too for Style Crush daaaaay! 😉
