Happy Thursday friends and family! Hope you’re all well! I have HUGE NEWS! Charlie and I OFFICIALLY closed on our townhouse on Tuesday! WE’RE HOMEOWNERS!!! I’m still kind of mind blown by that, holy cow! I’m so stinkin’ excited about this new chapter in our lives and super thankful that I get to take these big life steps with Charlie. He’s my best friend and there’s no one else I’d rather do this with. We’ve already started moving some things over to the house but the official move is on Saturday and we absolutely can’t wait. (Side note: Tons of you have been wanting to see some pictures and I took a bunch of photos of the house before we moved anything over there so I’ll be giving you guys an “empty house tour” here on the blog on Tuesday! :)) We’re super thankful to have my mom here right now to help us with some of the pre-move moving and cleaning stuff. I’m feeling a ton better but I’m definitely still lacking energy, so she’s picking up my slack big time. My awesome father-in-law gets to town tonight for an extra set of hands. We’re beyond blessed with the best parents and family we could ever ask for.
As I mentioned, it’s been a whirlwind of a week already and it’s just getting started. Last weekend we went home to NC to celebrate a bunch of birthdays in the family, one of which was an extra special 90th birthday celebration for Charlie’s sweet grandmother! She asked all of the gents to wear a coat and tie which excited me because I love any excuse to dress up, hehe. #girlygirlproblems She didn’t however specify if it was semi-formal, business casual, or anything of that nature so I decided to play it safe by wearing a dressy floral jumper.
The wonderful thing about a dressy jumper (jumpsuit, whichever you prefer to call it) is that it’s a great in between option. If you’re worried about being underdressed, a nice looking jumpsuit is very sophisticated and will not let you down. On the other hand, if you’re worried about being overdressed, a jumper is still technically pants which will keep you from looking like you wore a prom dress to brunch. 🙂
To keep things dressy but not overly glamorous, I wore the floral jumper with a simple pair stiletto mules (just have to say that I’m freakin’ obsessed with these beauties, hehe), a nice quilted crossbody bag (not a clutch but still dressy), some classy but bold tassel earrings, and a nice everyday lip color. It was fairly chilly the day of her party so I just had a nude duster to layer for warmth. It was a great compliment to the mules and bag!
How do you guys like to play it safe when you’re concerned about being overdressed or underdressed? I thought this floral jumper was the perfect piece for the occasion! Thanks for stopping by you guys! Much love!
