Charlie and I are really big homebodies. We love exploring Philadelphia and traveling, but we also love snuggling up on the couch with a good show on Netflix. Staying in and really enjoying each other in the peace and quiet is so sweet! And I’m an introvert to the core, so I reenergize in the quiet of my own home. All of that is to say that we really like being at home—and as much time as we spend at home, we really like for the place to be easy on the eyes. I like looking around and feeling proud of our little home and feeling like we’ve created a space that suits who we are. If your home suits your personality, it not only expresses who you are but will also be easy for you to settle into. So, I wanted to show y’all a little taste of our home—our living room!

I thought our living room would be a good room to show you guys since it’s where we spend the majority of our time. Charlie and I have lived in two other places together, and something that we both value [me in particular] is natural light! We love all of the windows in our living room and how much light they let in! We wanted the room to keep it’s light and spacious feeling, so we chose a calming light blue paint. With our darker furniture and wood floors, light walls give the room a good contrast.
This is my favorite room in our apartment for sure. I would describe it as a combo of chic and luxe. I love our chic and cozy couch from Raymour & Flanigan It’s so comfortable and the chase is perfect for snuggling up during movie night. Charlie also has his own recliner. What is it about men and recliners? Ha! He loves his La-Z-Boy, though! It’s his comfy little office on days where he works from home. It’s also Aspen’s favorite spot to snooze, which is precious. I make both of them hangout on the couch with me when we’re home together, though. 😉
It’s the details that really make a room. Our velvet curtains and pillows from West Elm give the room a luxurious touch. I died when I found these gorgeous curtains last summer! I also can’t get over this perfect floor lamp from Pier 1. The grey wood base goes perfect with our cool tones. I have a thing for rivets, so the lamp shade adds just a tiny hint of edge to it!
But of course, no living room is complete without a cute shaggy rug and some stylish décor! It’s easy to clutter a room with décor, so be sure to keep things to a minimum and in places that make sense. We just added some fun pieces like the sphere sculpture to our entertainment center. My favorite piece is our “home is wherever I’m with you” plaque made by a sweet and talented friend! Aren’t homemade gifts so precious? And finally, a cute family photo on the wall and your wedding album accompanied by a little candle display on your coffee table pulls everything together!
I hope you guys enjoyed hanging out in our living room for a bit! How is your living room styled? Is it your favorite room too? And please share your favorite places for décor! I obviously love West Elm but always love finding new gems!
