Good morning and happy Tuesday gang! I hope everyone’s week is off to a wonderful start. It rained here alllll day yesterday and Sunday so, Sunday, we went to the grocery store and after that just had a bit of a lazy day. I no longer know how to properly relax though so I did some content planning while Charlie watched football, hahah. Yesterday I was feeling sluggish from the rain but still managed to tackle most of my to-do list… only because I gave up going to the gym though, hehe. But we did get to go into Philly yesterday evening for a super cool event! We went to a happy hour and advanced screening of the Lionsgate movie A Simple Favor. It was a ton of fun to hang out with some other Philly influencers and the movie was great! I love a good suspenseful plot, aaaand Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are some of my faves! They’ve both turned into such sophisticated actresses I feel like. Anyways, the movie is coming out in theaters this Friday, so go check it out! 🙂
When I first saw this dress I was like “ugh I love this but it’s pretty summery so I don’t know if I’ll have a chance to wear it before the summer’s over.” Initially I was envisioning this dress with a pair of strappy sandals and a straw bag. I mean, it has all the summer feels with the stripes and button front detailing. Buuuut then I realized it would actually be pretty simple to style this summer dress in the fall because of the colors.
In order to wear this dress in the fall, I decided to play on the light brown color of the stripes. So I simply decided that instead of sandals, I would go for a pair of booties that pulled out the darker browns in the buttons. I also avoided any straw accessories because straw really screams summer and, instead, decided to carry a very simple mini beige cross body bag and wear a nice camel colored felt floppy hat. I didn’t do any accessorizing (outside of my watch, but that’s a staple!) because the double breasted buttons, tie waist, and floppy hat added plenty of dimension to the look!
If you wanted to wear this even later in the year, you totally could! I love the idea of wearing it with a pair of OTK boots (you could still get a peek of them through the side slits) and a very simple matching jacket or cardigan. I wouldn’t go too crazy with your outerwear because it could be overwhelming on top of the double breasted buttons.
What summer pieces are you guys not quite ready to give up and how are you making them work for fall? Hope you enjoyed the look, friends! Thanks for reading. 🙂
