I hope everyone’s having a great holiday weekend so far! Charlie and I are party animals, let me tell ya. We had been on a waiting list for a storage unit in our apartment complex, and we finally got one, so we spent Friday and Saturday moving stuff to the storage unit and reorganizing our apartment. It’s even better that we spent Friday and Saturday doing that considering I have to work today and tomorrow. I can’t just enjoy two days off like a normal person. 😛 Is this what they mean when they say “adulting”?
As you guys know, I’m a huge fan of neutrals, basics, and classics! Don’t get me wrong, I love a trendy piece here and there or the occasional pop of color, but only to accompany the classics. Neutrals and basics will never let you down. Never. So, I thought I would show you guys an example of how I enjoy layering neutrals for spring.
I started off with my distressed white shorts and my faaave black sandals! I decided to run with the black and white theme and threw on a great basic white tee and added a chic, drapey black vest to give the look some dimension. The simplicity of the look was great, but I felt like something was missing. So, I decided to throw a brown fedora with a black band into the mix for a little extra fun.
I love mixing black and brown! I know some people are still a little wary of that combo, but don’t be! It gives you so many additional styling options and it makes your outfit a little more eye catching without being too loud. If you aren’t super comfortable mixing black and brown, start with a piece that already has the two mixed for you, like this hat. That way you won’t feel guilty with whichever of the two neutrals you choose to pair with it!
Because I wanted the hat to be the statement piece, I kept my other accessories to a minimum. I wore my gold boyfriend watch and carried my favorite oversized satchel. My bag is a couple of years old (it was one of those random but amazing scores from Marshall’s!) but I linked a couple of similar ones above! And don’t forget a great pair of sunglasses to top everything off! Have I mentioned that I love these sunglasses?
That’s it for today you guys! And believe it or not, that’s it for the entire month of May! I’ll see you guys back here in June… aka Thursday. 😉 Enjoy the remainder of your long weekend! I hope it’s filled with sun, the people you love, yummy food, and a good sale or two!
