How’s everyone’s weekend been so far? I’m headed in for a Sunday shift at work today and yesterday Charlie and I had a super productive day! We had tons of errands and housework to catch up on since we had a mini stay-cation last week. We took a little bit of time off together to celebrate our anniversary and it was absolutely wonderful. (Check out our anniversary post here!) We had a date night almost every night and tried out all sorts of new, delicious restaurants.
Our most exciting date night was when we went to see Cirque du Soleil’s TORUK in the city—and of course it was a great excuse to get dressed up in my favorite little black dress, ha! The show was nice, although it was very different from a “traditional” Cirque du Soleil. There was a lot less acrobatics than in the ones I’ve seen in the past. I’m not sure if that’s because it’s a traveling show or because it has more of a story line. If you’ve never seen Cirque du Soleil, I would recommend seeing a more traditional one first, just so you can really see what they’re all about (they’re amazing, btw)! But that’s not to say that this one wasn’t good. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a more beautiful set! It literally looked like a scene out of Avatar—so dreamy! I wish I had a picture of the set to share with you guys but there was no flash photography allowed. 😉
I was so excited to break this sassy little number out for our date night! This dress is perfection. I actually got it a little over a year ago and wore it to our rehearsal dinner for our wedding! And it’s obviously an ah-mazing dress because it’s back in stock and comes in more than one color! This little black dress is the absolute perfect mix of sexy and classy—which makes it pretty timeless, don’t you think?
One of the best things about this dress is that, even though it’s definitely an occasion type of dress, you can still style it differently! I’ve worn it with strappy black heels for a sassier look but also with a nice pair of pumps to keep it toned down a bit. It looks really great with a dressy shoulder bag or a clutch, and it looks nice with a statement necklace or a cute back drop necklace!
For this look, I tried to keep things a little more conservative since we were going to a nice show. I mean, the dress is backless, so you’re already working it before you even add shoes and accessories! I just wore some cute leopard pumps and a classic black clutch. Perfectly easy and perfectly stylish.
What is your favorite little black dress like? And how do you like to switch up your accessories to style it differently?
