How’s it goin’ everybody?! I hope you’re all having a wonderful week so far! My week has been absolutely nuts-o with trying to get packed for a two week vacation, getting our house ready to put on the market, keeping up with work, spending time with our Philly family and friends to say goodbye… the list goes on. Tons of stuff going on to say the least but it’s all very exciting! But, suffice to say, Charlie and I are going to be in major need of this vacation, ha! It will be a nice break before the madness of the actual move starts. Is life super hectic for anyone else right now? Just know you’re not alone! We’ll make it! 🙂

Y’all know I’m all about the staples, basics and classics. They’re versatile and timeless and it doesn’t get much better than that. But I also love adding a trendy touch to even the most classic of outfits because it keeps them current and relevant. So, today I thought I would share the easiest and most affordable way I go about doing that by showing you how I took a classic summer outfit and made it trendy.
When it comes to summer, especially beach vacations, there are few things more classic than a good pair of a wide leg linen pants (or linenesque, in this case). A pair of white and tan striped pants will take you far, ladies. And you can never go wrong by pairing them with a simple white top and a casual pair of sandals. Honestly, you don’t need to do much more than that – it’s classic for a reason. But if you do want to give it a modern flare…
…the trick is…
…add some trendy a c c e s s o r i e s. Accessories are the easiest and most affordable way to make a classic outfit look trendy! First, accessories are often the fastest things to go in and out of style and, second, they are usually the most affordable. You don’t need to spend a fortune on trendy accessories because you aren’t going to need them to last you for years to come. The best part about accessorizing to make a classic outfit trendy? You can wear the exact same classic outfit next year with different trendy accessories! #mindblown
For this classic summer outfit, I decided to add a straw boater hat (this has been my favorite hat I’ve ever owned and it’s only $20), a trendy net bag (a little more pricey but I snagged mine on sale… it’s currently 40% off, btw!) and some simple rings to bling things up just a tiny bit. What types of accessories do you like to wear in order to spice up a classic outfit?
I hope you guys liked today’s outfit, post and pro-tip. 😉 It’s seriously my number 1 hack for investing in quality, classic clothing that last for years but still staying up to date on trends. Thanks so much for reading today! I really do hope you found it helpful. You can see a couple of other classic summer outfits that I gave modern twists here and here.
