Boooooooooo! Happy Halloween you guys! I wanted to do a random pop in because I want to share my love of Halloween and October with you guys! I’d never felt one way or another about Halloween (sorry Halloween lovers) until Charlie and I started dating.
The first Halloween that we were together, I got in my first car accident, and it was a pretty bad one. The second Halloween that Charlie and I were dating, I was in the middle of a 3-week stay in the hospital battling a Crohn’s flare. The next October, I had sinus surgery. So yeah, not my luckiest month.
Butttt my sweet husband changed the course of October and Halloween for me because the year that I had my sinus surgery was the same year that he proposed to me on Halloween. So naturally I have to reminisce with some of our engagement photos. I can’t believe these were taken over 2 years ago! Time really does fly when you’re having fun. 🙂
I had just finished recovering from my sinus surgery and was going back to school and work the following week. Charlie was playing in a volleyball tournament that weekend (Halloweekend) in Pittsburgh so I tagged along with him as my first little post-surgery outing. (I know, a 6-hour road trip outing? Haha).
We had Halloween day to enjoy together before the tournament started the next day. It was a really rainy day so we just took things easy. We did do one outdoor thing, though… We went to the top of the Duquesne Incline so that we could see the Pittsburgh skyline. Since the weather was horrible, we had the whole place to ourselves.
We were snuggled up under an umbrella together looking at the skyline when Charlie asked me to hold the umbrella. Then he pulled a little box out of his pocket and asked me to go on a lifetime of adventures with him.
It was absolutely perfect. We were in the quiet rain in a new place all by ourselves for this perfect moment. I wouldn’t have had it any other way than experiencing our moment just the two of us.
This was just a few minutes before Charlie proposed to me. Luckily someone was leaving as we were coming so they took our picture before they left. Now we have a photo to remember the day by!
I got a good one, y’all-I lucked out. I love my guy so stinkin’ much. But that’s another topic for another day. So that’s our engagement story. And why we still celebrate the day we got engaged even now that we’re married-because it was so perfectly significant to our life together and to our life that was to come. That’s cheesy, I know, but it is what it is.
Our engagement photos were taken by the lovely Ariana of Silver Feather Studios in NC! Miss her tons!
