Hey hey friends! How’s everyone’s week going? Mine has been pretty busy! My parents headed back home on Monday. Unfortunately we missed the Crohn’s & Colitis walk that I told you guys we were going to on Sunday. I woke up not feeling so great (irony! more on that in a moment) and the weather was supposed to be pretty crappy (pun intended, hehe). But it was kind of a bummer because the weather ended up being absolutely beautiful so we felt like we missed out on that. But at least we had a chance to have a lazy Sunday together and grill out later in the evening. 🙂
But back to the not feeling well thing. Just thought I’d update you guys after last week’s colonoscopy: it’s the weirdest thing because I felt pretty good going into the procedure, but I have felt like absolute crap ever since. And I’ve never had that happen before! It’s basically like the aggravation from the colonoscopy triggered my flare to come back. And the doctor did find clear and active inflammation so we’re just figuring out what to do next.
I think I’m still in the detail stage over here though because I’m not feeling like I’m quite ready to admit defeat. I know I should be staying home and taking it easy but I’m a busy body and, honestly, kind of need the distractions right now. Monday, after my parents left, I went with a friend of mine to see our other friend and meet her new beautiful baby girl! That was so much fun! Tuesday I literally caught up on work from the time I woke up until like 10pm. I was just in the zone, ya know? Aaaand yesterday I worked, had a doctor appointment, and got my hair cut and colored! Definitely did way more than I should have yesterday. I don’t know why I’m being so stubborn right now. 😛 (sorry to Charlie and my parents… I’m sure this is giving them anxiety, hahaha!)
I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m not typically one who jumps all over every single trend. If I like it great, if not, I just won’t wear it. But the spring trends this year are sweeping me away! I shared a post recently about loving stripes and button front dresses for spring, but today I want to share my love of straw accessories with you guys!
You’ve probably already picked up on the fact that I’m loving straw accessories because they’re making their way into a lot of my posts, especially on Instagram! I’ve worn straw hats for years, but this year I’m adding straw bags (and I’m not talkin’ straw beach bags) to my collection of straw accessories.
This is not the first look where I’ve doubled up my straw accessories, but I wanted to talk about them here. And, more importantly, I wanted to talk about how to wear multiple straw accessories at once. The easiest way to wear multiple straw accessories at once is to make sure they compliment each other. You don’t want them to be too matchy matchy, but you certainly don’t want them to not go together at all. In this look, the black band on the white straw hat is what ties the black bag to it.
I wanted to keep things neutral but also a bit whimsical and boho in order to let the straw accessories be the main focus of the look. So, I wore a pair of dark distressed girlfriend jeans from Gap (seriously love these, especially the distressed hem!) and a chiffon white button cami (buttons, in any shape or form, are another spring trend I can’t get enough of). I wore black summer booties but the brown sole brought out the warmer tones in the look!
I finished accessorizing with sunglasses because shades make any look effortlessly laid back, my gold boyfriend Fossil watch, and my favorite everyday lip color. And it doesn’t get much more boho than these killer white tassel hoop earrings. These were from a previous Rocksbox set and I just loved them so much that I purchased them so I could keep them! What do you guys think of this look? Anyone else loving straw accessories right now?! I’m afraid I’m going to be overkill with the straw but I just can’t get enough of it!
