YOU GUYS! I am so behind on getting this back up and running but I’m absolutely stoked to be relaunching my Style Crush series today! If you’re new to the blog since my last style crush feature back in November or if you just need a refresher on how the series works, here’s the scoop: the first Monday of every month during the summer and fall I feature a guest on the blog to showcase their style! It’s as simple as that!
There are countless types of styles out in the world that I really admire and appreciate so I want to showcase something other than my own tastes for a change. It’s also an awesome chance to give you guys a change of pace once a month! The whole idea behind this series is that, even though we may not necessarily wear something that someone else is wearing, we can still have an appreciation for and enjoy their sense of style. We all have our own unique styles and that’s what makes it so fun!
You guys know I always preach wearing whatever you want to even if it doesn’t traditionally “go together.” The Style Crush series is another fun way to show how different styles can really go together! I always have my style crush choose their outfit and send me a snap of what they’re going to be wearing. Then I coordinate my outfit to match theirs. Mostly because this is about showcasing their style, but also because it’s a fun way to show how different styles can really compliment each other.
So, now that everyone is back up to speed, I’m super exited to introduce you all to a close friend of mine who is helping get this series kicked off once again! He’s a former colleague turned great friend. He’s one of the most passionate influencers I have the pleasure of knowing and he’s doing some truly incredible work. His whole mission is to help the everyday person have a better understanding of how politics actually impact them and how they can become more involved in decision making. He does a phenomenal job of breaking things down in a really easy to understand and applicable way on his podcast Salaah’s Corner (he’s on iTunes, Spotify and more so be sure to check him out). So, without further adieu, I’d like for everyone to meet…
Salaah and I met when we worked together in Men’s Sportswear at Nordstrom and, if you can’t tell, he’s definitely a highly qualified gent to be selling top of the line clothing. One of my favorite things about men’s fashion is how the details are what really make an outfit. And the details are what Salaah has always been so insanely good at. He uses the small details like socks and pocket squares to pull things together that might not otherwise look good and he nails it every time.
The cool thing about Salaah’s style is that it showcases all aspects of his personality. He’s an incredibly professional, smart and hardworking dude and I feel like that’s pretty obvious by the outfit he’s showcasing for you. But his knack for subtleties in an outfit translates into his personality as well. He’s a super witty and funny guy which always plays on the details and subtleties in a conversation. And his style has just enough flare on its own that you could probably tell just by glancing that he’s not exactly a boring character.
And that’s a wrap on my good pal Salaah! I hope you guys are as excited as I am about getting this series back up and running! I forgot how much of an absolute blast it is. It’s always a great time shooting with friends. This was particularly fun because Salaah’s wife, Bree (another friend of mine) came along and made the perfect sidekick for Charlie. Charlie made fun of me and Bree made fun of Salaah. 😛 Tons of laughs were had by all and it doesn’t get much better than that.
Thanks so much to Salaah for helping me get this project off the ground for the summer, to Charlie for always working magic behind the lens and to Bree for moral support… it was nice to have someone on my team for a change! Ha, just kidding, I know Charlie loves me. 😉 And of course thanks to you guys for stopping by and taking the time to check out today’s exciting post! I’ll talk to you again soon!
