The second weekend in January, one of my dearest friends got married and I had the honor of standing beside her as a bridesmaid! One of my favorite things about weddings is that people come together from near and far to celebrate love. In this case, I was lucky that I also got to travel to my hometown for such a happy day! It was nice to spend an afternoon exploring downtown Winston-Salem and seeing what all had changed since Charlie and I moved to PA. Maybe I’m biased, but downtown Winston is so freakin’ cute.
This look was perfect for a day of walking around the streets of downtown Winston. Super comfy but super stylish—I really love this tattered chic look. This Topshop slouchy blazer makes it so easy to be chic and comfortable at the same time. And this pretty mauve-y pink color gives the boxier cut a feminine quality. Unfortunately my exact blazer is sold out from Topshop, but I linked similar styles above! The tank I’m wearing with this blazer is one of my all time favorites. I have it in 4 colors (no shame) and wear them all the time! They’re so versatile and great for layering!
And these jeans! Oh my gosh, y’all, they are perfection. These are my first pair of Express jeans and I don’t know that I have a more comfortable pair of denim. They’re so soft and stretchy which makes them perfect for days where you’re doing a lot of walking. Not to mention they’re so stylish. I love this light grey wash—you can style it so many different ways! The destruction is perfect and I’m obsessed with the frayed, step hem! I’m so sad that they’re sold out (but how could they not be? They’re so great!), but I linked some similar pairs for you guys.
The other thing needed for a day of downtown exploring is a cute, comfy pair of booties. Booties can be flat and still be super stylish! I love these black leather Steve Madden booties. They’re extremely crisp and neutral which makes them easy to dress up or down. And of course I wouldn’t recommend them if they weren’t crazy comfortable. Seriously guys, I can’t get enough of these. I work on my feet so I wear them all of the time.
But really, isn’t this look so great for a day downtown? It’s chic but a little tattered which is just the right amount of edge! What do you like to wear when you’re exploring your local city?
